Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its result. Davidson County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email is retained as needed to answer it. Messages remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical details about that visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help aggregate page traffic, visit paths, and performance data. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Davidson County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of dockets or personal case data. It explains how to reach the Davidson County Circuit Court Clerk, Criminal Court Clerk, Chancery Clerk and Master, trial courts, and Tennessee's appellate-only Public Case History system. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention rules, and sharing practices apply to information entered there. Review the displayed provider's policy before sending a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Throughout the site we link to clerk of court pages, trial court portals, statewide case-search systems, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Clicking any of those links takes you off our site. At that point, their privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before sharing any personal details.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard safeguards protect collected data. No internet system can guarantee complete security, so a breach-free service cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Notice that a minor supplied information will prompt a deletion review.
Your Data Rights
The Tennessee Public Records Act, including T.C.A. § 10-7-503, and Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 govern access to government and court records, not this private site's visitor files. Other law may provide rights based on a user's residence. At a minimum, a user may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A new version becomes available here with its updated effective date, so users should review it from time to time.
